overclocking the socket itself

so i have a z77x d3h and an i5 3550

i already overclocked it to 3.9ghz and thats just by overclocking the cpu itself.

i have an option to overclock the socket but it also includes the pcie connectors.

should i try to overclock the socket to get a higher clock like a 4.1ghz or even 4.2ghz?

i know that overclocking non k cpus is not recommended but i want to see how far i can push the cpu before i lose the stability

does a pcie connector oc can hurt the gpu?

its not socket overclocking lmao. Its BaseCLocK. Go ahead try, I couldnt get my 3570K to be stable above 103.5mhz, with or without GPU.

you mean above 3.8ghz?

I was running close to 4.6ghz.  You can always clear CMOS and start again as long as you havent catastrophically messed up your CPU (which is really hard to do).

You cant switch bios' with gigabytes implementation of dual bios. If first bios is detected to be corrupted second bios is copied over to first bios. Also mind you I got a 3570K not regular one.
