Whats the most refresh rate I can get?

Hello, I'm currently gaming on a 3 year old laptop. The link above show my graphics card and my processor. My fans can go all the way up to 5000rpm so usually cooling isn't an issue.

So I was wondering how much refresh rate can my laptop handle at 1080p? Planning on getting a monitor soon.

Thank you.

If that's a 1070 MXM and not a MaxQ, it'll perform similarly to a desktop 1070. Meaning GPU wise 1080p144hz won't be an issue in most games. I forget where the CPU lands, but the 7700HQ is still a solid chip.

Intel Core i7-7700HQ @ 2.89GHz Its also repeated 8 times in Device manager so I'm guessing its an 8 core?

My gpu is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070

Refresh rate or fps ? Because these are two different things. Fps? What games ?

Refresh rate. Depends on what the panel is rated at.

What laptop model is it and what kind of ports does it have for external monitors to connect to? Even if the GPU is fast enough, if it has only an old HDMI port you may be limited to 60 Hz regardless.

You can run games at 144hz fine but I think it will go under at full settings

Use something to monitor the framerate in the games you play, and go off your min FPS. For 144hz, you'd want a min framerate of 144 FPS, but the more the better. It doesn't mean you couldn't still use a 144hz display if you can't get there, but you're also not getting anything out of it. If you can't get much over 60 FPS stable, for example, a 144hz display would be a complete waste.

You can figure that out yourself, just make sure you have no FPS cap and Vsync off, then display an FPS counter in the games you're going to play. Will be better than what anyone could tell you.

Well with a 1070 and a 7700hq. You'll probably have to turn some settings down. Sadly I barely play games and I don't play Apex so I don't know how this will perform. Though you can always watch a benchmark.

As I see you have a Mini Display-port. It supports 1080 144hz. 🙂

Ok, so port wise you should be good. From what I can see it has both DP and HDMI 2.0.
