i was told gaming does not need more than 4 cores so i was told 4 is sufficient and shld concentrate on the ghz and heres the question,3300x is 4c8t and 3.8ghz if im nt wrong and the 3600 is 6c 16t but the ghz is not as high as 3300x does that make 3300x better for gaming

and if thats the case whn im gg to upgrade my cpu i should only look for 1 w higher ghz right cuz 4c is enough and does higher ghz means tht the cpu is able to better gpu

Cores and frequency are not the only thing that makes a cpu.

There's the imc (integrated memory controller) . The cache layout the ipc ( instructions per core). The fpu ( floating point unit. Does the complicated instructions ). The core arrangements. The ccx arrangements in AMD's case.

In this case. The reason why the 3300x is practically the same as the 3600. Because games. Today at least do not scale up to 4/8 cores/threads. In the future. Games will probably utilize more cores meaning the 3600 will last longer.

Super super simple explanation but should be good enough.

Even now we can see some newer games can use from 6 to 8 cores.

This is the direction moving forward. So if you have more budget, go with more cores.

If not 3300x is good enough.

If you really care about gaming performance, wait for 4th gen or just buy Intel.
