Ok so now I know something actually is wrong with my PC

Jared O

Fortnite only runs 60-70 fps on max settings ultrawide 1440p using dx11, when my setup consists of a 2080 ti, i9 9900k and my ram successfully running at 4000 MHz no problem. I looked up videos of people with a similar setup using the same card, processor and monitor resolution, yet they’re getting DOUBLE the frames I’m getting?!?!? What could even be the problem with my computer? Nothing glitches or ever blue screens or anything like that - it’s just my frame rate in games that is utterly abysmal compared to what it should be and has been driving me insane ever since I bought this thing pre-built by CyberPower PC last year. I have always felt there might be something wrong, but seeing that performance compared to mine in something like Fortnite now confirms it. I do however have the cheapest variant of the 2080 ti, being the EVGA Black, but I kind of doubt that would give a loss of 60 fps..........My motherboard is the ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming sli/ac, which I have seen might have some power limits since it’s pretty cheap and has some horrible reviews, so is this most likely the culprit here?

You probably need to turn on some switch in software.

At me or quote me, I want to hear your opinion.

Hopefully anything I say is factually correct. Sorry for any mistakes in advanced.

this is assuming the proper drivers are installed. Then you'll prob need to go in to Gforce now or something.

If you mean that my monitor might only be set to 60 Hz, it’s not - I wish it were that easy of an issue lol. I also have my power options set to maximum

There still may be some overlooked setting that needs to be adjusted, thats my assumption.

idk what it could be though because I’ve tried like literally everything I could even think of - I’ve overclocked my cpu, my gpu, my ram is indeed running at 4000 MHz in dual channel when I check it in terminal, and my cpu is running at the correct GHz, as well as maximum power being enabled on top of it all, leading me to think that the reviews of my motherboard are actually correct and maybe it’s a board issue

If you managed to successfully clock everything as you mentioned, than the mobo is almost definitely NOT the issue here.

Well I will say that my system will not allow me to get to 5.0 GHz on my cpu no matter how hard I try - I just have it on 4.8

Do you still think this after hearing that?

Yes. This looks like a software issue. And they say you can't fix software with hardware.

What is the most probable setting that I need to alter?

Is your bios up to date? Judging by the later post's I can't be sure what it is.

I guess the people who said that my board has power limits much lower than what modern hardware is capable of were right, so that’s probably my problem. I’ll just get a new board when I get the 3080 ti I suppose. At least we figured out what is most likely the issue
