I don't want the water cooled system in this build, help please.

Joseph4th

Going to get new gaming PCs for me and the wife. I've decided to get the Glorious AMD Gaming/Streaming Build from PC Part Picker except I'm not sold on a water cooled system. The build includes the Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240R RGB 66.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler and I think I would rather go air cooled. I've watched a few of the LTT videos where they've compared various cooling system and I think, from the tiny bit of the technical stuff I think I understand, the air cooling system come off as a bit better.

My problem is that I'm so far out of the game that I don't know anything anymore. I'm not only so out of the game, that even when I was in the game, I just deferred to IT department at the various software companies, who would also build it for me. At this point I don't even know shit is brown and I'm here so I don't step in it.

I live in Vegas and the summers are hot. There is a lot of hardware in this office and I can roast chickens during the summer so cooling is important. I keep my case under the desk, I don't care if I'll need a different case than the one in the build and I don't care about lights inside the case. I just want it cool, quiet and not to fall apart in few years.

Help? Thanks.

welcome to the forums!

seeing that you are looking forward to build something high end, i would strongly suggest on waiting for newer hardware i.e zen 3 and nvidia ampere. its not a good idea to get something high end now for it to be outperformed in 3 months or so.

to answer your question, a noctua NH-D15 is a great alternative to an AIO.

Do you care about looks?

As @Oswin suggested, a Nh-D15 will be great, and NF-A12x25 are great fans.

Thanks! My plan last week had originally been to post something on reddit asking, "Hey, is there anything I should be waiting for when building a high end PC?"  But I forgot. So now I'm reading too many articles and watching too many videos and only slightly more confused, except that yeah, I'll wait.  Though I already had to convince the wife to raise the budge for the machines from 2k each including monitor to 2.5k, I'm guessing I'm going to have to talk her into raising it again.

I'll be back.
