Finding the right charger

Go to solution Solved by mariushm,

The letters and numbers after the dash simply represent options for the model (different cpu, different wireless card, more ram etc)

All the NP300V5AH  models will use same charger, and most likely NP300V5A (without H in name) will use same charger

You can also look around at models launched around the same time frame and see in pictures or manuals the model number of the charger... other laptops from Samsung may use same adapter model, which will tell you that adapters are not keyed to a specific model, so you'd be able to buy third party adapters as long as voltage and wattage matches.

19v is a very common voltage, 90W is another common wattage. The barrel jack diameter is most of the time standard (2.1mm inner diameter, 5mm outer,  or 2.5mm inner, 5.5 outer) but what varies is if the're 3 contacts (outside barrel for negative, inside barrel for positive, center pin for data which tells the laptop how good of a charger is) or just 2 (barrel sides for negative, center pin for positive) ...

If it's 2 contact, then you'd be able to use ANY charger as long as the barrel jack matches.

if it's 3 contact (data pin) you'll be limited to SAMSUNG chargers or compatible with Samsung, because of the way the data pin works.

Dell laptops will have their own way of telling the laptop through the data pin  what wattage the charger can supply, Lenovo another way, other brands have their own way.

Hello people , I need your help.

A friend of mine needs to buy a new charger for his laptop. now , all ebay pages sell chargers for the model - NP300V5AH , but , on his laptop it says both NP300V5AH and on the bottom it says - NP300V5AH-S06IL.
Now , the question is , will a charger that is fit for NP300V5AH but has another kind of code after this model number also fit for my friends laptop?
I will appreciate some help finding a charger in eBay that will fit his laptop , it is unusable for quite some time.

i uploaded a picture with his laptop details.

Thanks alot upfront!
