Wouldn't say IM-possible, as @Mateyyy said, it may be within it's capabilities to do so.

Can someone please explain. 

My Asus Rog Strix A6G 1060 6gb runs at a clock speed of 2025 mhz and memory speed of 4104 mhz. I haven't even overclocked it yet.

Assuming that's Unigine Heaven, for me it says my 2070S is running at something like 2190MHz even though in reality it's running at 2010-2040MHz.

Check with MSI Afterburner.

Looks like you are using ungine valley. That benchmark is very old and well it hasn't really been reporting correct info for years now. You should check with msi afterburner or the like.

Yep it's Unigine Valley. Afterburner says it's running at 2000 mhz tho. I mean in any case is that normal for a GTX 1060?

Edited above... does look like max. factory setting for boos clock is 1759MHz.

Considering it's running at not even 60C, it's normal. Modern GPUs will boost themselves as long as they are within a certain power and thermal limit.

no it is very possible my 5700XT runs much over the max boost of 2030mhz

Motherboard tier list. Tier A for overclocking 5950x. Tier B for overclocking 5900x, Tier C for overclocking 5800X. Tier D for overclocking 5600X. Tier F for 4/6 core Cpus at stock. Tier E avoid.

(Also case airflow matter or if you are using Downcraft air cooler)

Modern NVIDIA GPU's can and will go past the boost clock, provided they have the thermal, power, and voltage headroom.

@CroixFrozy Not necessarily luck, but a product of the older benchmark. Typically older benchmarks don't work the core as hard, lowering power draw, which in turn opens up the power headroom. Try something more modern, and you'll see a different, likely lower number. These things run at different speeds for almost every task.

I thought MSI Afterburner is optimized and up to date? It shows those mhz numbers.
