Hello guys,

I have recently finished upgreading my machine with a new mainboard and cpu. I reinstallend Windows shortly after to make sure everything is running fine. Though i have encountered some problems since then.

I overclocked the cpu to 4.2 GHz at 1.25 Volts and it runs staible in all the games, but when i load up Prime95 i get a blue screen, telling me a kernal error occured. I really hope i did not get such a bad chip that cant even do 4.2.

Though this is not my only problem. When i boot my pc up it takes about 5 to 10 seconds before actually showing the on screen logo. The debug says 9c i think, which means chencking the SATA, USB etc devices. Shouldn't take that long right?? Also a similar problem occurs on shut down. I shut down the pc and within less than 5 seconds the harddrives power down and the screen turns black, but the fans and leds are still powered on for at least 10 seconds, I can not think of any cool down feature of the motherboard i have. Also Ive had some usb driver issues after i reinstalled Windows, so many usb devices could not be recognized, although i think that has bees sorted out now...

I would be pleased if you guys let me know weather you have any thoughts about this.

My specs:

Motherboard: msi Z87 MPOWER MAX

CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K

GPU: msi GTX 680 power edition

RAM: 8GB of kingston value (upgreading soon)

Storage: Samsung 840 SSD 250 GB, 2x Seagate Barracuda HDD, 1x WD caviar Blue 500 GB

PSU: Corsair HX 750

Cooling: Corsair H80i

Thanks for help!

ehm ur sposed to run the tests for min 12 hours :P. might be cooling might be the way you oc ?.

yes i know that but the test ceased my cpu after less than half an hour on 4.2 i am now testing at 4.0 my H80i is able to keep the temperature down to about 65 Celsius right now and if the test doesn't fail after an hour it is less likely to fail at any other point after that, but yah i know to be 100% sure you have to run at least 12 hours and i will do that if i have time...

On long boot time. Check if you can disable some devices from bios. During POST it checks that all that you have enabled are working. If its marked disabled, sequence just jumps over it.

Can't remeber what its called. But browse around and look for place where you can enable&disable onboard audio etc. In most cases you need that stuff but you can find somethings that you don't need. I've seen ppl suggesting that disabling fast boot option will also help.
