Try seating all dimms in that exact slot. If it doesn't post. It's a dead dimm.

Ok so I have 3 working rams, and 4 channels in the motherboard for them but when I put in the 3rd ram the pc starts beeping and it wont post. Btw my pc is some old crap HP pavilion i think. cpu intel core vpro 2.4ghx 1gb ram(2 sticks of 512mb) I want to add another 512mb. (I know its bad but its a temporary pc i bought it for like 5€ just for school).

Either the stick is dead or the dimm is dead.

I wouldn't hineso spend more money on this system though.

Could be that the system 'needs' you to have even no's of DIMMs; if you've tested the 'third' DIMM is all four slots with no problem then I'd say even no's is the problem, esp. if it still works w/ the original two.

I frequently edit any posts you may quote; please check for anything I 'may' have added.

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!
