Is this a pre-built PC (e.g. HP / Lenovo / DELL / Acer)?

As @Zusafek mentioned, some pre-built PCs are not able to support newer GPUs without a BIOS update.

Seeing how you mentioned it had a lower-end Radeon HD 5450 graphics card in it, it sounds like the computer is from the 2009 ~ 2011 era.

Are you able to POST (e.g. see the BIOS screen) but not boot?

As you are loading into Windows, you get a black screen?

Well, the drivers for a HD 5000 series is very different from the drivers for HD 7000 series and newer.

Radeon HD 6000 series and older were moved to "Legacy" support level, and are not the same as the HD 7000 series and newer.

GCN architecture / instruction set (introduced with the Radeon HD 7000 series) had too many differences compared to older GPUs that were on the TeraScale architecture / instruction set.

downloaded the bios flash thing from the lenovo website..... rebooted.... now all i see is

grub rescue>....... i went from no gpu... to no pc >.<

1. It has a mining Bios

2. Download a different Driver

3. Your GPU is fried(Chances are low)

If you have warrenty for the GPU Return it before it get useless for anyone<meaning>(Before you distroy it)

And i also have the same problem but my pc don't post
