Hello, I have a Rosewill capstone 650M. 80plus modular. I wonder if tthe sockets on the PSU have each a specific cable intended for... I am not sure if I'm plugging the molex where the 12v rail is, etc... they are all the same and don't have any markings.

I didn't find anything on google besides a manual that doesn't provide any info regarding this.

thank you in advance.

The ATX end is standard ( the end where it plugs into components ) but the end that plugs into the PSU isn't.

And psus have different pin layouts

As for custom cables. Check cable mods if they have sleeved extensions ( which plug to the atx end and then to the components ) or just sleeved wires for this model.

I misunderstood the question.

The ATX end, the one that plugs to your components should be marked for the part

Like vga for the GPU or cpu for the eps connector.

As for what plugs into the PSU. Like what @BobVonBob said

It's labeled so you can know what. goes into what.

The Rosewill Capstone has labels for which cables go where, and all modular power supplies are designed in such a way that if the cable fits in the socket without force it's in the right socket.

The sockets/headers/connectors on the psu are arranged and keyed so you shouldn't be able to insert a cable in the wrong socket.

The 2x4 sockets on the left are for pci-e cables only because there's only 12v and ground.

The other 4 sockets on the right, are for peripherals, they're all the same .... they contain 12v, 5v and 3.3v and the cables that cable with the power supply either connect all wires (for example for sata connectors) or just a few in the case of molex (old mechanical hdd) connectors

@TofuHaroto @mariushm @BobVonBob for the capstone 650m nothing is labelled on the PSU's end.

All the connectors are the same and all sockets are the same so everything fits everywhere.

Sorry for the bad quality I'm not used to rely on my phone.

Ah, you must have an older model. Either way, if the cable fits, it'll work perfectly fine.
