Hey everyone,

I just recently moved to a new city for a two month Internship, and have discovered that for some godforsaken reason my apartment does not have any wifi. Why this is possible in the 21st century, I dont know, but that means I will have to rely on my mobile data plan for this time because installing a connection turns out to be quite expensive and also time consuming. Fortunately I do have an unlimited data plan, but it is pretty slow, ~1MB with 3 bars, and a lot of latency spikes. The latency spikes in particular are annoying because they effectively prevent me from playing any online games that require a stable connection. I do have a desktop with me with a pretty good pair of antenna's that I specifically bought, link here if it matters https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B003JEN844/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1, and I wanted to know if there is any way in which to use my desktop as the device connecting to the cell tower, or to boost my wireless network.
Thanks in advance for helping!

Most places I have come across in the US don’t include WiFi. Generally the renter would purchase internet service from what ever provider serves that building.

Those antennas linked are for 2.4 and 5Ghz, which are generally used for WiFi in most countries. They probably won’t support the bands used by cellular providers.

if your using your phone as the hotspot may I suggest connecting the phone via USB and see if you get better results.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Cellular networks are pretty similar to wifi frequency-wise (900-3000mhz for non-5g) meaning those antennas would do fine most likely. However in order to connect to a cellular network you do need a special cellular modem with a sim card, you can't just use a normal wifi card.
