MediaTek wifi adapter gain boosting

Jake9821

Hey all.

s-l1600.jpg

This adapter uses 802.11 n and is capable of using monitor mode. However.. It only seems to come in 2-5 dbi of gain.

Is it possible to replace the antenna on this adapter for say a 14 dbi one and then use monitor mode with this new range? Thanks

The new antenna should function normally.

At me or quote me, I want to hear your opinion.

Hopefully anything I say is factually correct. Sorry for any mistakes in advanced.

USB adapters, especially small ones like that, are usually kinda crap as they are limited in power due to USB itself and the physical space/cooling for the radio amplifiers.
