Late Q2/Early Q3 is what I've been telling people since, what, early Jan?

It's pretty speculative, but that just seems about right. Much earlier than that and I doubt they'd really be ready. Much later than that and it's too damn long. Right around then is when I suppose they would want to dump it on the masses, if possible.

So yeah, Mar-May*.

*whoops. X2 - Wish I actually knew fiscal year quarters.

Read from wikipedia because August sounded really far in/Q3 from what I remembered. Guess it was wrong and I was more correct the first time, thanks for correcting me.

Like I said, this is just logical assumption. The same thing was said about Kaveri and Mantle as well, but both appeared about 2 months late (maybe 3). I'm sure Corsair and whomever else has RGB MX keyswitches coming in are slightly more prepared as they at least had demos at CES but a prototype means nothing. With that being said, that was one really well-made prototype..

I just have a feeling they'll be a bit more competent about it than NVidia with such a popular product. Not really sure what the state of TITAN Blacks are currently but last I knew, they've been backordered and/or out of stock ever since they launched. With a much more affordable price tag (according to "hint-hint, wink-wink"'s at Linus during CES, under $200 or so), it would only be logical to have a lot of stock ready to be shipped ASAP. Otherwise, there's no way they're going to manage the hundreds of interested customers. This is a really popular product based on feedback alone, imo.

I'm hoping Ducky is gonna put something out under $130-140. Dunno if this is just a U.S. thing or if shops restocked but they're widely sold out. You can still find 'em but it makes you wonder why. I don't mean they'll have the same RGB as the Corsair boards/any RGB MX keyswitches but I'd love to see a Shine 4 or Zero 2, for example, at a slightly lower price. I'm def. willing to pay over $80-90 for one, but if it were over $140, I'd ditch for the Corsair RGB.

to me duckeys are nothing special . look like every other keyboard. What do they have that a k70 does not?

One thing that I find really irritating about keyboards is the fact that I can accidentally move it around easily. Even with some decent rubber feet on it and risers/whatever they're called, it still happens. Ducky Shine 3's are supposedly quite a bit heavier than your average keyboard (obv. not ~7kg/15lbs or something crazy).

Another thing is a TKL design and a compact feeling to them. I really dislike multimedia and macro keys on a keyboard, let alone the extra 4-6+ inches the tenkey pad adds that I have never used. The one thing I've become accustomed to is a volume dial as a multimedia key. I have a cheap Gigabyte keyboard that has it and really, it feels amazing and is great compared to up/down volume. It's definitely better than dealing with in-line volume or something on headphones/headsets as well. Also, the quality is supposed to be a bit better than most motherboards (dual layer PCB, slight cable management underneath IIRC).

Edit: Directly compared to a K70? TKL models, green backlight (pretty sure K70s don't come with that), the last bit barring the cable routing indentations underneath. I don't really remember exactly as I'm not familiar with Corsair. If I'm wrong about anything here, I'll admit I'm no mechanical keyboard specialist..

OK well I don't care about slippy ness as I use it on my lap, and I don't want green backlight, and I don't need cable routing. So I'll get rgb or k70

I don't get why people like TKL keyboards are you that tight on space, I can't stand tkl keyboards

^ ergonomics

there's no benefit to sticking your mouse hand further to the right and there's quite a lot of shoulder strain issues involved when you're doing at all day long as an office worker.

and yes, some people actually ARE that tight on space lol.  it's MUCH easier fitting a smaller board inside a bag than a fullsize board.  how about on keyboard trays?  there aren't very many desks where you can fit a fullsize board AND have alot of room for your mouse.

you can get quite a bit more compact than a TKL also.

basically, having a fullsize board when you never use the numpad is ALL LOSE and no gain.

the list goes on:

full keyset compatibility (aka, no messed up mods)

many many more backlight schemes

detachable cable for easier storage/moving around + customizable cable

obviously, these are all aesthetic things.  But if aesthetics don't matter, why even get a K70?  there are many many cheaper mx boards out there.

remember, you are NOT the only keyboard customer out there.  everyone values different things; that's why you buy k70s and other people buy duckys.

blah blah blah freedom fries, 'murica fuck ya, etc.

EDIT:

sigh...whatever happened to forum software automerging doubleposts...we had this feature back in 2004, but all modern forums either have it turned off or removed -_-
