Stuck at TWRP Recovery

Go to solution Solved by Nayr438,

So are you trying to flash a oem rom then? You shouldn't need TWRP unless your flashing a custom rom or rooting your device.

If so, I would try downloading one of the roms from here. You might be using a incomplete update rom when your flashing.

https://c.mi.com/us/miuidownload/detail?guide=2

Either use the MiFlash Tool, as mentioned on that page

or

Erase Data, etc.. in TWRP

Then flash it in Fast-boot mode using the included flash_all.bat from within cmd. Just make sure your using the correct rom for your device.

Need Help.

I tried to install a global rom version of a Redmi note 7 pro and the first time i installed it succeeded.

but during the first boot, it was on the redmi logo for a while, after it restarted, it went straight to twrp recovery.

when i check the internal storage, all i can see was a bunch folders with randon names.

the thing is i forgot to make a backup before installing the rom on twrp.

now i did a format data, installed the ROM again and this time it just went straight into twrp.

is there a workaround for this? Thanks in advance

For those such as myself who didn’t even know what twrp was:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team_Win_Recovery_Project

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

What Rom was it?

You mention "Global Rom", is there 2 versions of your device? Google Search just shows me "violet".

It sounds like a bad flash, or a rom not designed for your device. More information would be helpful.

i think the device is a violet. i tried flashing a lavender rom and it wouldn't continue to install. is says something like this device is violet.

The roms that i have tried so far

miui_LAVENDERGlobal_V11.0.6.0.PFGMIXM_48d41b4dee_9.0

miui_VIOLET_V11.0.1.0.QFHCNXM_d16fb03b84_10.0 (this is the chinese ver. i found and tried to flash but the same result as the 2nd flash)

miui_VIOLETINGlobal_V11.0.5.0.PFHINXM_04632f47d3_9.0

miui_VIOLETINGlobal_V11.0.9.0.PFHINXM_29e11cc884_9.0

How random to see a post like this when ive just experience similar issues.

I wanted to update my version of lineage Os, but unfortunately had issues and had to start from scratch - Im on a s4 tho, so its a hell of a lot older xD

Anyway I also got caught on the bootloop with twrp & found that in the end that it was my SU binary that was out of date as CF is not longer working on it & had to switch to a diff root-program to update it.

In the end I used a program called Magisk - https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-magisk/

Download the zip onto ure pc and then set ure phone into "download mode" and use the adb sideload to copy it to your phone whilst in download mode (twrp does support this too apparently but i prefer to use the built in download mode) - https://twrp.me/faq/ADBSideload.html

Once magisk is copied onto your phone, boot back into recovery and flash the file so it gives you "root"

After all that try and install the custom ROM again n hopefully you will get that "at last" smile as I did ;)

Hope it helps

edit - I did the adb bit via windows command cos it jarred that hell outta me in linux terminal ;)
