So I was considering upgrading my X79 based system. I was wondering if it is worth it to replace the graphics card for a RTX 2070. Aside from that, I have had problems getting a constant 60 ish FPS in GTA V on high settings (1080p) and I am not sure what the problem could be. Below are the specs. I am a college student, so I hope to do a full rebuild when I get out.

Motherboard: Asus P9x79 Deluxe

CPU: Intel I7 3930k (OC to 4.3 GHz)

RAM: 64 GB (8x8), DDR3 Corsair Vengeance @ 1600

Graphics: MSI GTX 1070

Storage: OCZ Vertex 3 240 x 2 in RAID (Boot Drive), OCZ Agility 3 120 GB x 2 in RAID

Display: Dual monitor setup with DVI and HDMI ports in use.

Can’t remember if that’s pcie2 or pcie3.  If it’s pcie2 all 16 pcie lanes will be needed to run he card so nothing else in the slots.  The cpu will OC to near 3100x speeds.  You’ve already got a 1070 though which has he same issue.  I’d say keep it till the new GPUs  come out at least.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.
