Price Discrimination

Did you know that Netflix costs $7.26 in Japan and $9.05 in Bolivia, despite the latter having a much smaller library and being a far less wealthy country? Or that on average, Steam games cost 3 times more in Japan than they do in Argentina? 

Heres a research on this topic . Why do you think about such price differences? I was surprised by this:

The more people you have buying in a single currency under single country laws/taxes causes lower costs to do business per sale (even if they are digital).

Brazil is also famous for having high prices on electronic devices due to the country's high tax policies. Some companies tend to just fuck up though, like Adobe. If you live in Africa, they assume that you live in South Africa.... So this year the South African government raised the taxes so pretty much all the continent has to pay more as a consequence.

 

On the other hand, I've noticed that Origin games are usually a bit cheaper in Africa than in Europe, although EA has pretty much the same policy as far as I can tell.
