Cat 5e Supports Gigabit Speeds, and certain ones can support up to 2.5 Gigabit speeds (just need the 2.5 Gigabit port) It should work just fine :)

The 10/100/1000mbps standards refer to the speed of the interfaces. Each of these interfaces can transfer files at speeds up to their respective values. If your NIC reports it can do Gigabit speeds then you can transfer files at speeds up to 125MB/s (max theoretical). For 100mbps that'd be 12.5MB/s, etc.

 

Just make sure you have a Gigabit link and you'll be fine with Cat5e.
