im a first time builder and i already have a B450m steel legand motherboard from ASrock and i want to use a ryzen 5 3600 in it can i use it without needing a BIOS update i am confused because pcpartpicker says i need one but the box on my motherboard says that its ryzen 3000 ready please help

the place you buy it from should emtnion weather or not it needs to be flashed.

but it's not hard to do

If the box says its ready then its ready.

If it has the sticker then it will boot fine. You will also have to update to the latest version of the BIOS after you set up the system, though, since running on older BIOS versions can cause issues.

pc partpicker says that it will need a bios update and i dont have another ryzen processor

Step one - close pc part picker

Step two - profit.

 

The system will work fine as everyone has already told you. The sticker means the BIOS is new enough that the 3600 will work out of box. After the system is set up, you will update to the latest BIOS version so as to avoid issues and bugs that have been fixed

PCPartPicker will say that for any non-B550/X570 motherboard.

If it's got the Ryzen 3000 Ready sticker, then it's compatible.
