Hard Drive Dissapearing

The hard drive that I have all my games and apps on will once and a while disappear. For example, last night I play games and then I go to bed and wake up and i cant use it and it cant be found in disk management or "My Files." The last time this happened, i just waited another day and windows finally found it. What is going on and is there a fix?

is your sata cable all the way in?

I had this before with a WD green. It would go to sleep and I couldn't wake it back up unless I rebooted it. In the power settings of windows change the option put hard drives to sleep after ___ to never. Then restart and it shouldn't disappear. Otherwise there might be a setting in the WD tool but I am not sure

Mine is a seagate but i did the power setting and restart, still nothing

It's possible your drive is wearing out / defective. Mechanical drives begin to die the moment they're powered on. I would recommend checking the SMART diagnostics and/or running a SMART Short & Long test on the drive using SeaTools for Windows. Be sure to backup anything important first though, as the drive could permanently die while you're running the SMART tests.
