Hey! I have recently taken on the project of building my own PC! I officially have all the parts that I need, I put it together, it starts, but nothing would show up on my monitor. Is it because my monitor is my tv? Is it because some parts aren't compatible with my tv or something? (I don't have a monitor). Let me know, thanks.

Make sure your display cable is plugged into a GPU on your PC, instead of the Motherboard.

On the TV, make sure that you have the right input selected. If you have it plugged (and I'm making this up) into an HDMI 1, but TV is showing HDMI 2, then nothing will show up. Make sure the source is correct.

Sometimes it takes a while to post for the first time, but eventually - you should have a picture.

I can't help you much because I don't see the system. I can only tell you to check all connections, make sure it's plugged in properly.. all the usual stuff. But anything more than that - I'm powerless.

Not that I am aware of.  I built a PC and connected it to a TV.

Have you tried different HDMI cable?   I am using a high speed 15ft HDMI cable with no issues but this is a high grade heavy duty HDMI cable to run that length with minimal signal loss.

I got a new hdmi cable and still nothing. maybe it has something to do with my cd drive; i had to buy one seperately rather than get a case with one, but it should still work. I have 4 dvds; the one that came with the cd drive, the one that came with my motherboard, the one that came with my gpu and the windows 10 installer dvd. is there a certain one i should put in first?

Even if you do not have windows installed, you will get a display output.   You should see the prompts from the motherboard bios flash on the screen.

However, if you never installed windows before then I would recommend putting the windows 10 installer CD in the drive.  A better way to install windows is to use another computer to create a USB install drive.   However, you will need to make sure you get into the BIOS on the motherboad (via the TV screen) to validate the CD drive is marked as bootable.

When it comes to problems like these there can be quite a few possibilities.  We are not able to see your configuration nor do we know what parts you put together, so the best advice we can give is generalized.

It could help if you took pictures of the build.   we could see how the memory was installed, the GPU, the PSU, etc...  It would also help us to know what parts you used for the build.   All of this helps, but just remember we are not there with you so we can't see/hear what you are, so being as descriptive as possible definitely helps us to help you.

possibly, but i thought most versions of hdmi were the same these days...?

I don't know your what your TV is so it's just a guess. Maybe you could check that out yourself or tell us what model your TV is? Another option is that something else is going wrong somewhere in your build. I'm not the expert so I don't really know :/. I think that monitors / tv should work the same with a computer, so the problem is most likely that there's something wrong with your computer or the cable connecting the two. Unless the HDMI between the TV & computer is somehow incompatible? Probably not though, as you said.

I have a gpu, and i pluggerd it into said gpu and still nothing. I wanted to see if the problem was the gpu so I took it out and the igpu on the motherboard is used instead, that's why it has a motherboard slot
