Cpu-z detects ram upgrade but not windows and bios.

I have an asus x455l laptop. I wanna play dota 2 with it but the on board 4 gig ram of the laptop struggles with the game so I used my spare 2 gig laptop ram. It boots normally but it doesnt detect that i installed a new ram in the slot, i checked with cpu-z and it can actually see the ram in the spd section. What am i doing wrong?

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

Yes the ram that i have is ddr3l which is supported by the laptop. It even shows up on cpu z so i know that it is seated correctly in the slot. Problem is, windows seems to ignore it or something and theres no way to tell whay the frequency of the on board ram is with cpu-z. Im not even sure if thats realy the problem since some laptops and computers work even with varying ram speeds. What should i do?
