On pc part picker my mobo supports 3200mhz ram. So naturally I bought that ram however doing more digging it only supports 2666 but 3200mhz when oc. Can anyone tell me how to oc the ram.

You have to turn on XMP in the BIOS.

2666 ? You mean how fast the imc can handle before it's technically an over clock ?

Which cpu? And what ram ?

OP is talking about this:

Quote

Support for DDR4 3600(O.C.)/3466(O.C.)/3200(O.C.)/2933/2667/2400/2133 MHz memory modules

The 'OC' part specifically.

Since this is a B450 board, it was specifically made for Ryzen 2000, which the CPU by itself supports speeds up to and including 2933Mhz. Anything above that is an overclock done by the motherboard (thus the 'OC' part).

But with Ryzen 3000, its default max speed is 3200Mhz.. But anyways, that's all not that important.

To be more precise it's called D.O.C.P on AM4 boards.

Some call it xmp some call docp

Doesn't matter really

It's called D.O.C.P. on ASUS AM4 boards.

Gigabyte (what I assumed OP has, since that is listed in their PCPP list) calls it XMP:

ASRock uses XMP

MSI uses XMP or X-AMP/XAMP in my experience

I have a a couple of AM4 Gigabyte boards, for some reason i remember seeing only D.O.C.P on them...

The funny thing is that i don't have any boards from Asus but remember seeing D.O.C.P on a Gigabyte board 😂

I am too lazy to check it out but it doesn't matter since D.O.C.P AND XMP are the same thing.
