What are you trying to do with it? CAD/3D modelling? Or video/photo editing? Something different?

Workstation could range from a simple Word machine to a complex scientific machine calculating equations.

 

What end of the spectrum is it?

I’ve been building PCs for a while now but I never got to be deep about my builds as I’m focused in music production, but I get really excited to build one and know a bit more about pc parts and other staff as I follow tech staff on YouTube and so on, since a lot has changed, im   Not sure which parts are best for my needs I want to build a new workstation pc for music production, games and video editing.i have already bought a 64gb ddr4 3200mhz, PSU ax1200i,a case Corsair crystal 680x based on what I have I’m not sure of the other staff,did I made a right choice or.....?

All good choices for what you're trying to achieve but you're trying to tie your laces before you put your shoes on... You should be looking at CPU & motherboard combinations first and foremost, then GPU for your needs. These will give you a good idea as to what power consumption you're looking at, need for faster RAM, cooling etc... Personally, I would be looking at a Ryzen build but I'm just a fan of their products... Rather wait a short while for the B550 boards to land in SA, get yourself one of the 3rd gen Ryzen 7 options and then get the best GPU your budget allows. A good gaming rig vs a good video/music production rig is a fairly minimal difference at that level so just go with your gut feel.

Okay,I’m not a big fan on AMD staff I’ve been building on intel ever since I’m kinder not sure about Ryzen hence they say it’s not good for music production yes for other staff it can be a good choice,I wanted to build on intel 10980XE and Asus prime x299 30 edition motherboard and a workstation graphics card Nvidia p1000 quadro this was the build I wanted, still it felt like an overkill yet I’m not good at buying staff time and again or upgrading as of now I’m still using a 4th gen pc I’m really confused

Here in South Africa lot of pc staff is out of stock based on what I was looking for, so my concern is that with the memory I just bought am I safe for the next new releases on motherboards and so forth?

i5-10600 or Ryzen 3700x for CPU depending on what you find, GPU I guess the one you got can be recycled? Maybe 32GB ram or more?

Thats absurd "not good" is just a dumb statement. If they have numbers to back that up I'd be interested to see the difference in performance between the same level chips for music production software. I can't imagine it would be such a big difference. Regardless, either platform at that tier will give you great performance across the board.

As for your specific question. Yes and no... DDR5 ram is supposed to be coming out in the next however long... Probably won't be mainstream fro the next couple of years I guess so it just depends on how long until you want to upgrade.

 

I would say that you have plenty of RAM and an overkill PSU for what you want to do. But RAM, a case and PSU does not a computer make... So until you can find stock of the main components, you're a bit stuck. Check Evetech.co.za - they're pretty good if you don't mind the week or so wait. Think they have stock of the latest Intel's and Quadros.
