Alright, so I've built my friend a computer with and it all seems to work, just that when I try to install Windows 7, the HDD isn't detected even though its plugged in correctly.

Its WD 1TB blue I believe. The motherboard is also a Z87 from MSI (GD-45). What do I need to do? I'm going over tomorrow to his house to finish the build off because I couldn't figure this problem last time.

Yeah the BIOS works, its UEFI. I managed to change the boot config, so the DVD drive pops up first. Windows 7 loaded the files, its just that when it asks for a Storage Device to install on, there's none.

is it possible to reformat the drive? Maybe the WD Blue drive was formatted to mac osx extended file system or something. Just reformat it as NTFS or FAT32

How do I format it in the BIOS?

I don't think you can. If you have another working PC you could install it in that and format it from there. If not you could use software run from a disk or USB (Like Ubuntu Live CD?) to format it in NTFS.

i have a friend that didn't plug in the power... but it seems you did not do that.

i had an ssd not showing up in windows but it showed up in linux. So i booted into arch linux from a usb stick and used cfdisk to format the disk. : )

this happened after my motherboard died and i had it set up in raid.
