So my 1TB  system SSD is about full.  I have a 4TB Seagate Hybrid 2.5 inch drive harvested from another computer which is no more.  I decided to add this drive to my current system.  Then I had figured on formatting it and migrating my system over to it.  I know the hybrid might not perform quite as fast as the SSD but with the SSD being so full it is performing quite slow at the moment.  I'll use the SSD for a photoshop scratch disk or something.

Anyway, after adding the 4TB Hybrid drive and rebooting my system I am getting the "Device Not Migrated" and the drive won't let me format it.  It first presented me with a window saying I had to initialize Disk 12. I chose OK but it then gave me the IO Error.  I've attached a bunch of the windows and messages below.  I tried initializing the disk with MBR ticked as well but neither one works.  GPT I believe is what I really want anyway.

How the heck do I resolve this?  I just want to format the drive and migrate my system OS onto it.

Thanks in advance!

Image your system just in case. Or not.

Then you may (choose one of them):

1. Check registry for entries (you have that letters and numbers - you can find it easily - use Registry Workshop to do that faster). Then remove all entries to that drive (while is disconnected). Reboot and check.

2. Uninstall drivers for that drive, do not try to update, just uninstall. Reboot and check.

3. Delete everything from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices and restart.

4. Use Ghostbuster tool to remove ghosted devices (including your drive). Before that disconnect your drive.

5. Check that drive on another computer.
