Soundcard advice and suggestions

Hello everyone, I want to buy a sound card, but I don't really know which one to be. Currently I'm choosing between Asus Xonar U7 MkII or Creative Sound BlasterX G6. I've researched and there were different opinions and reviews, but nothing solid. My question is which I should buy and I won't be dissapointed for the purchase? Also I want to hear other suggestions on their price (around $150) and what specs I must check while choosing soundcard. Thanks for the attention!

This sounds like a question for the audio thread.  There are people who know a lot about this kind of thing there.  Discrete sound cards are no longer a generic requirement for a PC, they have become a specialized thing for people doing some sort of audiophile or audio engineering stuff.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
