Hey guys, this is my very first post on the LTT forums and i'd like to start it off by asking the experts on a PC build.

PC Budget - $1400 USD (Budget can go up to $1500 USD)

I'd like a PC that is capable of playing all the latest and greatest games at the highest possible settings for the budget. I'm also delving more and more into Photoshop and Video Editing so i would like a PC capable of running these types of programs, not to mention that I would also like to try streaming. I haven't really looking into OC'ing but i'm sure i'll be trying that out in the future. I'm open to doing a water cooled build or the traditional, air cooled build. In addition to these, I'm also looking for a SSD & HDD combo. 120gb and 1TB will be fine to start me off.

I have all of the following:  Vengeance K70, DeathAdder, a BenQ monitor that i use with my PS4, Fractal Define Design R4, and Windows 8.1 (64-bit). For the potential builders; I have my eyes on the Asus Maximus VI Hero mobo, so please include it if you can unless you can provide something better with HDMI ports and display ports.

Thank you guys for taking the time to help a noob out and i'm looking forward to what this community has to offer.

EDIT: I'm planning on upgrading to a dual monitor setup in the future just in case it matters on parts and such.

You really don't need the Maximus Hero board, truth be told.

Throw another 8 gigs of ram in if you need it, or get a 4770k instead.

welcome to the forum buddy, i would say go for something like a 4770k + 16gb ram + gtx 780 (Ti if your budget permits) + h100i + 600ish watt psu (again i like corsair) and 3tb hard drives are pretty much the sweet spot for price/storage atm.

Again this is a very rough recommendation, you may be able to go for a 2011 build like a 4930k .

Personally i have the Maximus 6 hero and im quite happy with it, altough really you dont need to spend that much you get the same functionality on boards which are much cheaper, i mainly bought it for the aesthetics.

PC: Corsair 900D | Corsair AX860 | Maxmius VI Hero | i7 4770k | Corsair H100i | 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 2133 | Sapphire Radeon 7950 | Samsung 840 Pro 256GB | Win7 X64

HTPC: Silverstone GD05 Black | Corsair VS350W | AMD A6 5400K | AsRock FM2A75-PRO4-M | Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB DDR3 1600 | Samsung 840 128GB | WD Black 4TBx2 | Leadtek Winfast DTV2000DS | LiteOn BD\DVD-RW Combo | WIN7 x64/XBMC

Now, first off, there will be cheaper RAM out there but this matches really nicely. Second, there will be cheaper power supplies out there and if you want to do SLI, then I suggest picking a higher wattage one.

Third, I picked the 780 Ti because you want to game so hard. Fourth, an i5 will be plenty and will suit your needs nicely. You said you will be OC'ing down the line so maybe add a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO for $30.

The MSI Z87-G45 looks similar if you only want the red-black color scheme.

EDIT: I picked the wrong power supply, you can probably get away with the 550w model of the one I posted.

You can mess around with this if you want...

If you you want intel this is great, other wise I would get an FX 8350 and a H80i with a high end 990fx board. Also I would get a decent 850w psu so the you can SLI in the future. It just depends on if you want amd or intel, they perform roughly the same (intel is better at single threaded where as amd is better at multi-threaded (between the 4670k and FX8350)) with amd you will save a few dollars and be able to put it towards your rig (like better cooler or what ever you see fit).

PC: Corsair C70 Arctic, FX 9370, Corsair H80i, Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3, Corsair Vengence 16gb, Palit JetStream GTX 970, OCZ Vertex 4 128gb and Western Digital Blue 1Tb + 500gb, Antec Gamer 520w

Peripherals: Logitech G19 and SteelSeries Sensei RAW

Toshiba L50-A: i7 4700mq, 8gb, 1TB HDD, GT 740M 2gb
