I’m so confused as to how this is happening and why ? Only thing I can’t think of is the port isn’t a gb port and is only like 500 mb or something . I have a gig connection and I’ve played the same games I’m trying to play now , on ps4 before , but now trying to play on pc . Gta online won’t even load . Just keeps saying timed out , yet I was playing on a shitty pc I gave away as a gift . I think the problem with gta is just because I’m still signed in on the other computer . But apex legends takes literally 5 mins every time I want to get in a game . I sit here typing this as I wait to get into a game. Ps4 would take like 2 mins tops , but I’m not joking when I say 5 mins , I stream and you can go and watch one of my streams just to see how long this actually takes. So I’ve just sorta assumed a network bottle neck . But why ? And what can I do to fix this ? Because like gta v is unplayable. And I’m not that interesting of a person , so when I stream apex there’s just allooooooot of silence.

Have you tried reinstalling GTA V? That doesn't seem like a networking issue if the problem isn't occuring on a general node/client and rather a particular program. For that, all I can suggest is reinstalling the programs with the issue ( assuming all other programs run fine ).

My Rig:

CPU: Intel i5 2500k 4 Cores, 4 Threads @ 4.5ghz ( asus uefi regulates BIOS and adjusts it, there is no manual option, so I can't get any higher than 4.5, but I theoretically should be able to get higher once I get a voltage "changeable" mobo

MOBO: Asus P8Z68 LE

RAM: Kingston HyperX Predator 2133mhz ddr3 2x8 16GB

GPU: GTX 980 TI 150+ core, 100-150 ( I forgot )+ mem ( OC )

HDD: 500GB 3D MLC Samsung SSD ( soon ) + 2tb 7200rpm Seagate Constellation ES.2 SAS / LSI MegaRaid MR Raid/SAS Controller

CASE: Phanteks P350X

OS: Windows 10 64-bit / Void Linux

PERIPHERALS: IBM Model M 1984, Logitech G703 Mouse, Logitech G502 Mouse, Philips SHP9500 w/ V-Moda Boom Pro hooked up to my Sony AMP ( forgot model name, to lazy to find out )

Laptop: Gateway P-7805u FX

CPU: 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2c/2t

RAM: 8GB DDR2 1066mhz sodimm

GPU: Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS

HDD: 320GB 7200rpm hard drive 2.5"

SSD: Kingston A400 250GB SSD

Did you run a network speed test? What kinds of speeds are you getting?

Games are optimized differently for the platforms they're running on. Consoles, for example, have fixed resolutions/details so the amount of data that has to be loaded is capped. PCs, on the other hand, can require even more data which means things will load slower.

Some more information from you would be appreciated:

  1. How are you getting online with this PC? Wired or wireless? What is the make/model of network adapter?
  2. Run a speed test while your PC is directly plugged into the ISP device. What speeds do you get? How does this compare to what you're paying for?
  3. What kind of specifications do you have on this PC? Are you running these games from a hard disk or SSD?

I’ve got both ssd and harddrive , Ssd has operating system only . So yes I know that could affect it , but this drastically from game to game , that are on the same harddrive ? That dosnt make sense . It’s something with my network or adapter. It’s just a realtek adapter , I don’t have the pc on I just turn it off for the night and am heading to bed I can post screenshots f my network adapters and my speeds . I’m paying for 100 MB’s a second , and I’m only getting 6.8mb peaks downloading on steam . So I know somethings wrong there but I thought that would be a whole new issue that I could tackle after this . I’m using cat 6 cords , my router is a stock router that came with my internet I haven’t upgraded yet but have a spare in my bedroom running back up wifi I could see which has better speeds and go from there . While playing games I don’t use wifi just corded connection and I’m using cat 6a .

Ouh and get this . Because ark is few I decided to download it and play apex while it downloaded . Got like 3 hours play time and i was getting into games in literal seconds . The moment I hit triangle I was in a game . But then I close outta the game to check the download before shutting down for the night cause it should be atleast close to done . And nope 9% it says it was having trouble connecting and would continue to retry. Waiting 15 mins and it never reconnected , so I restarted just to make shure it would still download and after restart it started downloading again. That throws me for a total loop . No clue what the fuck happened there 😂 maybe you guys can explain it to me

The free download of ark from epic? Well yes, having trouble downloading that makes sense. Epic servers get nailed each time a game goes free.

As for steam, the default is to show megabytes not Megabits. I suspect that you are showing 6 megabytes which is roughly 48 Megabits. Still not great, but much better than 6.

Still, run a speet test. Share the results. Do it a couple times and change servers each time.

Yes the ark download from epic is what I ment . I was just confused as to why with something “downloading” ( even though it actually wasn’t , not an issue ) I was getting into apex games in 30 seconds compared to five mins as like before ? That just didn’t make sense . With something “fake downloading” my games should be taking longer ? right ? And speed test is coming soon I’m just on my way home from work 😛
