Membrane Vs Mechanical: ROUND 2

brownninja97

I'm waiting for the full-black body Trigger to come out! It looks so pretty 'drools'

There'd be a black version of the Trigger? That'd be sweet......do post pics of it when you get it. I'm happy with mine as it is......I'm looking for harder to get mech KB, or limited editions.....like the DS II 78 Version I have right now (#210 of 399 made). I know the YOTD has more made, but it's still a limited edition, hence my interest in it.

there needs to be more specific options:

1) I like mechs, but they're too expensive - this is a HUGE demographic

2) I don't think any keyboard is worth more than $50 - this person may or may not like mechs, but they like having money even more

3) I'm weird - this is a person that likes membranes

Mechanical ALL THE WAY!

My main reasons for Mechanical is its durability and reliability.

I know when I press my red switches that they felt it, even without feedback. I can trust my keyboard.

Although I look at keyboards in a personal preference way. So if you like membrane for some reason, sure. We buy keyboards for ourselves so who cares what do we buy?

I have an IBM Model M that I discovered in my storage a little while ago and after using it for a couple months I will never go back to a membrane keyboard again.

I've only ever had and tried one mechanical keyboard. Razer Blackwidow. I first tried it at my cousins place. I instantly fell in love even though I was hitting the wrong key like every second stroke compared to my normal accuracy of 90% on my cheapo membrane. I wanted to get one anyway and so i did. Decided that rather than buying few noctua nfp 12 ($25 each!!!!!!!) to silence my computer, i would just get a razer blackwidow to mask the sound of my machine. So i have had my blackwidow 2013 expert for 5 months now and i can't go back every time use my other pc membrane keyboard, i get frustrated. I'm still not as accurate as i was on the membrane but i can type alot faster now. The only downside for having a mechanical blue for me is when i leave my assignments for school until the night before its due, I'm scared of waking up my parents (because they get the shits when i watch LTT instead of doing my homework and assignments. I also find that the keyboard double on b,t and i alot or even not registering the b. not sure if there is a fault on my keyboard or i'm not pressing hard enough (even though i feel the click)

Although I must admit i don't mind chicklet membrane keyboards like on my macbook

I switched from membrane to my blackwidow ultimate. I can't go back to membrane ever and all my friends that game and are regular pc users who only used membrane love my keyboard.

I only voted membrane because I have a Marauder from Razer and because I never tried a mechanical one yet. Also considering the results I knew it wont change a thing :), more mechanical fans out there in the wild than membrane ones.

I voted "I couldn't care less". Because I could care less. But, I really enjoy my g710+, havn't ever tried other switches than the browns from that keyboard. But at the same time, I also love the lowprofile membrane keyboards.

If I could have a mx brown version of the keyboard in my old IBM 370C, I'd be happy :D

I just got a Black Widow 2013 to replace a CM storm that was defective (surprise! Every Cooler Master product I buy...).  Before that I was using a Corsair K60.  I liked the Reds on the K60, but I LOVE the blues on both the CM and the Razer so much more.  I get frustrated when trying to type on my laptop now because I NEED that feedback to type quickly.

Membrane is just nasty.

I vote mechanical; after using Cherry MX Brown switches I can no longer type properly on membrane keyboards. We're forced to use iMac keyboards at uni which frustrates me to no end.

I wouldn't mind trying the different types of mechanical switches but as no shops seem to have any on display that you can physically touch i'm unlikely to spend the money on one. Quietness is the main keyboard attribute i would want.

Currently using a Razer Lycosa which i don't really like but it cost too much to just change straight away.
