Okay, keep us updated.

Just noticed your motherboard is on BIOS version 0614...that BIOS came out in 2018/04/09.

Latest version is 2401 from 2019/0718 .... *12* BIOS releases ahead...

Also single stick of 16GB RAM, interesting...

So, me and my dad have just come off a 2 hour session, didn't stutter once! So ... it was either the DDU that did it OR the GameBarPresenceWriter.exe fix (I'll link to the video that helped me for anyone seeing this in the future) so fingers crossed the issue is sorted, thanks for all the help everyone!

GameBarPresenceWriter.exe Fix

DDU video

Hi there, I'm new to the whole in depth PC thing so I may require some hand holding so I apologize ahead of time.

For a few months now I've noticed that whilst gaming that every so often my game would stutter (every few mins) for around 2-5 seconds and then carry on. It's not so irritating when I'm playing single player games but if I'm playing online you can imagine how annoying it can get.

My dad has tried helping me, downloaded MSI Afterburner etc, added some basic fan curves and things but it all seems to still happen, so I'm wondering if anyone can help?

My specs are:

Windows 10

Intel Core i7-8700K 3.70 GHz

Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB

1 Stick of Corsair 16gb 3200Mhz DDR4

ASUS PRIME Z370-P Motherboard

EVGA 750 Gold PSU

Samsung 860 EVO Sata III 6GB/ps

If there are any other details let me know, thanks in advanced!

I did use DDU when I installed my new GPU around 6 months ago. I can try that again.

My temps are in recommended manufacturer guidelines aswell.

And I'll try the xmp/DOCP in the morning, will let you know how I get on, thanks for the suggestions!

i dont really know what you mean by that

usually the "recommended temps " listed by the manufacture just says if under 90c its good

a specific number would be good

Well it depends then, as it depends what game I'm playing I get different temps. We were playing Borderlands 2 earlier and it was getting around 60c if I remember correctly.

If maximum temperature is ~60*C, then you are perfectly fine.

I am suspecting driver / software related as @TofuHaroto suggested.

Do you already have the May 2020 Windows 10 update installed (version 2004 of WIndows 10), or didn't upgrade yet?

Version 2004 is apparently buggy for *SOME* users.

That's what I thought when it came to my GPU temp wise.

I do have it installed, but this issue was occurring before this update so it's definitely not related to that, thanks though.

Just to follow up on the XMP/DOCP thing, attached two pictures of the bios, there's only one profile for the XMP and that's selected ... not sure if everything else is fine, sorry for being such a noob!

Not yet, I did use it when I installed this new GPU a few months ago, so wasn't sure whether it was worth doing it again, do you suggest I do?

Try ddu

It could still fix it

So I've just done some testing. Played Borderlands 2, full quality also running in 4k. Some of my temps were getting upto 70-80 BUT I didn't have any stuttering or anything. Will try again later today and see if it starts again.

I'm not gonna lie, updating the BIOS sound scary as all hell to me, so I'd need real help with that haha!

And yeah, I got it as a pack with the CPU and motherboard. It did say in the original listing on Amazon that it was two sticks of 8gb so no idea what happened there.
