Inside the socket? Yes. Basically impossible to clean, and it will probably cause connection issues/damage something.

That would probably kill the motherboard, and depending on if it's conductive also kill the cpu. If you are talking about the actual socket. If it's between the cpu and cooler, than it's fine

Either @piratemonkey or quote me when responding to me

i tried to use the aritclean on the socket using a small brush then blew it out using air and then put the cpu in the socket and its working somewhat just not sure if it damaged the cpu. kryonaut is not conductive

As long as the pins are fine, then it'll be working. If they aren't then memory may not work, it may not post, or it'll be fine. Make sure that there isn't any thermal paste at all.

yeah the pins were fine just i need to brush the thermal paste off the underside. i am getting a new mortar max. so all i have to do is clean the pins on the 3950x

i did clean it off but i noticed when i tried to seat it then pull it off then seat it again in the socket how some thermal paste kept getting in the holes or near them on the socket of the motherboard i am currently using. i did read thermal paste is usually non conductive it depends on what its made of and the thermal cleaner like arcticlean is non conductive as well. or at least it should be

As long as you don't get any into the new socket, it should be fine. And even then you were running it like that before

i was using a brush that you would use for cleaning an electric razor of hair. but the brush was clean before i used it to wipe the pins and all. its that small brush you use to try to get hairs off the trimmer part of an electric shaver. i think they should make such brushes an option for cleaning the underside of amd cpus
