Hi all,

I am in the process of building a new system. The system will be mostly used for 3D content creation using blender and gaming. I dont plan to overclock anything for a while.

I have decided on the following:

Motherboard: TUF Gaming X570-Plus. Specs - Already bought. The specifications say that 4400 RAM frequency is compatible with the Ryzen 7 but am very confused what this means and have read some bad things

CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 3700 3.6 Ghz 8-Core processor

Graphics: Gigabyte RX 5700 XT 8 GB Gaming OC - Will be able to crossfire AMD on the Mainbored, so I will get another when the system is built.

I am purchasing from Umart or Scorptec these are the cheapest in my area and have very good reputations.

I would appreciate it very much for some of you smart PC gurus to have a look at the shops listed above and offer some recommendations for RAM. I do plan purchasing at least 32GB or more to start with but will implement the full 128GB in the future.

Thank you.

EDIT: Thank you for the recommendations and now have the knowledge to now make a comfortable decision. I plan to purchase G.Skill 32GB (2x16GB) Trident Z Neo C 3600MHz AMD RGB DDR4 RAM

Ryzen 3rd Gen benefits most from 3600mhz ram, with anything above giving very diminishing returns. I would just get a 3600mhz kit, maybe the Corsair vengeance lpx. It's basic but performance should be solid and it's cheaper than your RGB or tighter timings stuff. Also, are you sure you need 128gb? That's a lot!

PC

Ryzen 5 2600 Stock

Sapphire Nitro+ Special Edition Radeon RX580 8GB (Would Recommend)

Gigabyte B450M DS3H (Don't recommend)

Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition

Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15

Phanteks P300 (Would Recommend)

Kingston A400 240GB SSD

Seagate BarraCuda 1TB HDD

Corsair CX550M 550W  80+ Bronze

Deepcool FH-10 Fan Hub

3x BeQuiet Pure Wings 2

Peripherals

Logitech G305 (AAA Adaptor - 10g reduction) (Would recommend)

Logitech Z150

HyperX Cloud II (Would recommend)

Moto G5 Plus (Webcam)

G'day mate, thanks for the recommendation. Yeah the RGB doesn't really matter to me that much at all. Im not really sure if i do need the 128GB but would like to take advantage of the 128GB thats offered by the mainbored in the future...As I wont be able to upgrade for a while. In saying that perhaps you're correct and 128GB is overkill. Textures tend to use heaps of ram but I think 32/64GB will be good enough as I will be creating game assets and real-time texturing is very limited.

No worries, I'm not expert on your work load so maybe you do need it. :)

I was very confused about which RAM frequency to use but you cleared that up for me. Very appreciative for that golden nugget of information. :)

Cheers boggy77. Another recommendation for the 3600 and at 2x16. I'm pretty sure now talking to anther game artist that 64GB will be sufficient for the next couple of years.
