Hello, my mom's old PC is kinda dying after all of this years of service (it's been more than 10 years). So I've diced to build her a new PC, but I don't really know how to choose components correctly. What I'm looking for isn't something really impressive. Nothing too fancy about performance, Windows 10, some browsing, YouTube, Microsoft programs - standard office tasks. Our budget is around $350 ± $50 which should be enough for this kinda of build, maybe.

Well, currently I have this build, idk how good it is, how upgradable it is, but at least it's cheap:

  • CPU: Intel Pentium Gold G5400
  • Motherboard: MSI H310M PRO-VL
  • RAM: 4GB DDR4 Samsung 2666MHz  (2)
  • Fan: DeepCool GAMMAXX 200T
  • SSD: 256Gb GOODRAM CX400
  • Power: 400W Be Quite System Power 9
  • Case: any new or mb old one

Thanks in advice!

Mind going used? Plenty of refurbished powerfull office systems available for cheap. Just make sure they have 8gb of ram and add an ssd in when you get em.

If not then this system is pretty bad. Pretty much along the lines of a mid range system from 10 years ago still.

Nothing amazing but hey it can play youtube and do something else at the same time compared to the other build

Well, I've cheeked some pre-build PC in my local stores, but they offered some overpriced solution (imo) similar to my build. Maybe I'm wrong.
Thanks for your message, I though this build was ok cuz my friend advised its to me.

A 3200G would only put this a few quid(?) over. It's a pretty significant boost:

I don't know, it seems like in my country Athlon 3000G almost in twice cheaper than Ryzen 3 3200G: $59 vs $110. Maybe I misunderstood you?
