Hi everyone, the_cultie here from  Overclockers.com Team32.
 
It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you of the passing of Adak. His nephew informed us over the weekend. Here is his message:
 

I regret to inform you that Adak died on 16 Feb of a heart attack. This message comes via his nephew, Dean.

Please get the word out to those Adak may have known.


He will be greatly missed, he was a pillar of the community on our forum.

Thanks for the update. Really sad to hear about his passing. He will be missed.

Adak was one of the two team captains at overclockers.com - Team32 in Folding. He was a very active member of the Folding community and also did a lot of work in regards to the past few Chimp Challenges.

 

As a courtesy cultie has been going to various forums to let the members know.

Yep... myself, mentalguy, warmon6 and a few others. Was a lot of fun and he really did a lot to make the competition really involved.

He really did a lot of work to make it fun for everyone. He had only messaged me 2 weeks ago to let me know he was stepping down as co-captain for health reasons and asked me to take over and recruit a new co-captain. He thought he'd still be around though to give the odd bit of advice now and again. He left very big shoes to fill.

I never knew of him until know, and that is what bothers me the most. He seems to be a really interesting guy from what I've gathered and I really would have loved to had a chat with him before he passed, but hindsight is 20/20 and I can't dwell on that. 

 

His family has my deepest condolences. 

 

You are missed Adak.

Yes, he posted here as well about stepping back and such and how you would be picking up the reigns. :)  Also saw some of his posts over at [H]ard and trying to sort out that BA mess. I have know doubt you will do a great job over at Team32. Real shock to read just a couple weeks later about this.

Thanks guys, I will be passing on the messages to his family. We are also holding a Foldathon for Adak.

 

Team 32 invites friends and foes alike to fold in Adak's name to help us honor his dedication, his spirit, and his fierce drive to make all our forums a better place. Adak folded for many teams but considered Team 32 his home. Join us for a week of folding madness and let us try to send Adak shooting to the stars in points as well as spirit!
