Windows 10 Sata ssd to m.2 NVMe

I just built my first computer and put a sata ssd in put window 10 on it. Just bought a m.2 NVMe and was trying to Transfer windows from the sata ssd to the m.2. Can I drag it to the new drive or do I need to copy it to the new one and if so how would I do that?

 

 

If keeping the old ssd for games do I need to delete the os on the old one before or after booting on m.2. Will the drivers still be on the old drive do I need to install them on the new ssd and delete it off the old one or will they work on old ssd?

While cloning would be your best option, installing windows 10 fresh on the NVMe would probably be easier.

 

Just depends on how much data you have on your ssd.

Well you would have to clone the SSD, provided the new one is larger than your old drive. A good and free tool for doing that is Minitool Shadowmaker. Your other option would be to install a fresh copy of windows and just back up your important files.

Do yourself a favour and reinstall windows anyways. You won't lose your licence, and a clean install can help many things.
