Help!

I've recently bought myself a BenQ Zowie XL2411P (Which has a DP, HDMI 2.0 and DVI-D port) in the hopes of living the 144hz dream while gaming. However my laptop (Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52-57WR) only has a HDMI 2.0 port. Unfortunately I'm stuck with the monitor now, so rather than give up I went through Glenwing's Guide to Display Cables, which says that it is possible to still do 1080p on 120hz using an Active HDMI to DP adapter. It also says that these adapters tend to be unreliable so if anyone could recommend  a decent adapter it would be very helpful.

Like @Darpyface said, HDMI 2.0 supports 1080p at up to 240hz so you can just use an HDMI 2.0 cable. Like this one.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

I'm aware that HDMI 2.0 can do 120hz+ at 1080p. However my model is capped to 60hz over HDMI for some reason.

Must be my bad luck :(

I saw that the monitor HDMI is capped at 60hz, but are you sure your laptop can output 144hz? I tried to find an answer but I found varying answers, it might say it in the manual though.

This is a generic thing for all the BenQ monitors:

Note it does not indicate DP 1.2 or HDMI 2.0. In fact, other information specifically calls out this monitor as only supporting 60hz over HDMI 1.4. However this monitor DOES support DVI-DL, so that's actually what you might try instead.

My personal opinion. Return it. It's a TN monitor, and if it doesn't do HDMI 2.0, then it's not usable to you. Try a HDMI 2.0 cable, and if doesn't do 144, then it doesn't support HDMI 2.0.

Thank you for the spreadsheet @Kisai! Unfortunately amazon isn't accepting returns for the monitor right now so I'm stuck with it for now. I guess I'll have to play CS:GO on stretched 1440x900 if I wanna play on 120hz.
