Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu.

Hi guys, first time asking something here. So i got the error in the title, and i dont really know what to do. I tried:

  • default bios settings
  • creating a particion by command
  • try to installfrom another pc
  • disabling csm support
  • setting ahci mode

The only thing that gave me some feedback was disabling csm support. it allowed me to complete the setup from the usb, but that's about it. it didn't allowed me to boot from the drive, and even after disabling it, it kept the same.

Does this computer / laptop have a UEFI BIOS?

What drive are you trying to install Windows (10?) on, and how big (size wise, in GB) is the drive?

On certain motherboards, especially laptops, you may need to disable CSM Support.

Yes, both of those systems should be on UEFI BIOS.

If on a UEFI compatible motherboard, you should be fine leaving CSM Support on Auto / Enabled.

Is the WD Blue Drive a BLANK drive, or is there already an Operating System on it?

If there *IS* an existing OS already on there, it might be preventing another OS from installing on that drive.

The drive needs to be in GPT format to install Windows on.

i formatted the drive, so it's completely blank, and even before that the drive was used to store games, not as a boot drive
If the drive was using another format than the ones that windows need to install, shouldn't it appear an error message about it? i'm gonna try it anyways just in case
Aaaaaand it didn't work.
