Hey guys, I am new on here and asking for your opinion to improve my planned build. I had some parts in mind that are a pretty good deal atm. (except for gpu) What do you think?

Budget (including currency): 2500€

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Adobe Master Collection, FPS Games (everything on 1080p 240 Hz)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Here are some parts I had in mind:

Motherboard: Asus Rog Corsshair Hero VIII Wifi

CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X

CPU Cooler: NZXT X63 (thought about the Noctua D15 chromax but I dont know.. Performance on the x63 is fine and looks... + dont want the cooler over the ram in case of upgrading)

Memory: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 16 GB (for now..)

GPU: Gigabyte Aorus 2080 Super

Case: Thermaltake S500 TG, black

Power Supply: Corsair RM 850 (1000 Watt for OC needed?)

Storage: Samsung EVO Plus 970 512 GB SSD

Storage 2: Seagate Barracuda 2 TB HDD

Im not sure about the parts but the 3900X is pretty cheap rn and I think combined with the Crosshair these two are a pretty futureproof combo.

Not sure if I need another fan for the best possible air flow. In the thermaltake case are 2 fans preinstalled (1 back, 1 front).

Thinking of overclocking in the future.

For 1080p 240Hz one could argue that a 10700K/10900K would be a better choice, but AMD's Zen 3 might close down even this advantage of Intel's; Nvidia's Ampere cards are supposedly coming out in September too, hence why it'd probably be a better idea to wait until then to build a PC.

That being said, if you were to build now, you could definitely improve that build in terms of value:

You could drop the motherboard to an ASUS Strix X570-E or MSI X570 Tomahawk without losing out on anything relevant (heck you could even go with a TUF X570-PLUS and still be fine).

I'd personally go for an air cooler instead. Something like a DRP4 or NH-D15 won't be far behind a 280mm AIO in terms of cooling performance, while being significantly more reliable and potentially quieter.

Get an RM650x or Straight Power 11 650W instead of the RM850. That system will maybe consume around 450W at full (unrealistic) 100% load. Even a good 550W unit would power that just fine.

Unless you can get the 970 EVO for a good price, you can typically get similarly performing SSDs for cheaper, like the Sabrent Rocket, ADATA SX8200 Pro, HP EX950 or Silicon Power A80.

Arguably you could also drop the CPU to a 3700X, which would still probably be enough for gaming and streaming, but on that note you could also stream using NVENC, therefore removing most of the load on the CPU.

With the money saved, you could upgrade to 32GB of RAM, which could potentially be useful for streaming and editing.

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

Display: Gigabyte G34WQC

Thank you very much for your reply. Would you drop some parts to go with the 2080Ti instead? Or maybe save the money, go with a 2070 Super and upgrade to an Ampere?

I just sold my pc and now I am looking for something to replace it.

Oh, I see.

Well personally I wouldn't get a 2080Ti when there's the 2080S which offers most of its performance at a significantly lower price (still expensive nonetheless). I'd probably get the cheapest RTX card that offers great performance now, will still have decent resell value and people might be looking for on the used market, so a 2060 or 2060S, sell that before Ampere launches and getting one of the new cards then. Or if you don't want to bother with that just get a 2080S, keep it and call it a day, it's still a very fast card.

Either way, we don't have any official data on how Ampere cards will perform compared to their current-gen Turing counterparts yet, and we can't know for certain how that launch and potential discount of Turing cards will affect the used market pricings.

Looks good, here's something for just over €2000:

Not a whole lot different except for the motherboard which is better, but doesn't have the stealthy all-black look.

Also, always use quotes/tags so we can be notified when you reply.
