why am i getting less fps than people with the same build. im not thermal throttled. im not bottleneck. the pc is brand new. i optimized my windows as much as possible for gaming. i dont get why i am getting less fps on max settings on rdr2 which supposedly 60fps on ultra 1080p should be a walk in the park for a card like a 2080s. i get the expected performance in pretty much all game except rdr2 which i find to be bizarre even games like rust i get higher fps than some people who have a 2080 Ti which supposedly should get like 10-20 fps higher.

Specs:

GIGABYTE GAMING OC 8G RTX 2080 SUPER

16gb ram ddr4 3000mhz

ryzen 5 3600 oc @4.2ghz (GIGABYTE ATC800 RGB COOLER)

MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX

CoolerMaster MB520 TG case with 3 front fans and 1 rear fan.

Corsair TX650M PSU(Brand new didnt purchase it from any used store or something)

I would love some assistance and thanks in advance!

What graphics quality settings have you configured the game to run on?

*Edit* Sorry, didnt see the max settings portion.

According to https://www.gpucheck.com, if I compare your build vs my build for example, it shows an average of 63fps on ultra 1080p settings for RDR2. This is merely an average, but considering the information I am reading, you seem to be within the spec and the framerate can be expected to increase or decrease depending on what is actually happening in the game and what is being displayed on screen.

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX 9070XT Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X470-F RAM: Corsair 32GB Vengeance 3600Mhz PSU: Corsair RM850X White

Cooling: Corsair H115i RGB Storage: Samsung 970 Evo NVME (2TB) Case: NZXT H500i White

Keyboard: Corsair K70 Mechanical Mouse: Logitech Superlight 2

Granted I have more RAM, but I get better FPS than that with a 2070 non super... Look at some of the optimization guides on YT or Google. There's a lot of settings that don't do much, but use a lot of VRAM if that makes sense.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

yeah I am not too sure what to tell ya, I have done a bit of tweaking through radeon settings to get a little more performance out of my card, but I am not familiar with Geforce settings at all, it might be worth while to have a look and see if you can tweak anything at all. LTT released a new vid on Tech Quickie that may be worth while for you to check out, and its all about settings you can or should change in your gpu client.

This is the main reason why I didn't bother buying this game. If people are struggling to get a decent performance with a 2080S, then I don't stand a chance with an RX 470.

well you use worse settings so obviously get better fps. if i lower some stuff a bit not too much the game will look amazing still and it runs at 90 fps but if everything is on ultra it just doesnt work well

How do you know what settings I use?

Nah, I'll just wait for the next gen GPU's to release, so I can actually experience the game the way its meant to be played, unmolested by bad frame rate. I don't want to spoil the experience with an RX 470.
