Customs value Canada to US?

So I am thinking/ probably going to get the Gigabyte Z77x-UP5TH from the Store and am I trying to figure out the shipping costs. I can get everything but I do not get what the Customs Value is.

 

I live in Bozeman Montana USA with the zip of 59715 just in case it is needed.

There will likely be tax, at the $150 rate given. Customs value is whatever you pay for the item.

I believe it is asking you how much money it costs in whatever currency you are using. For example, if you are transporting $5000 worth of goods over the border, then there might be a higher tax than transporting $20 of goods over the border.

It's just tax. You get charged whatever % your state charges on the value listed on the invoice.

If they're using Canada Post they'll put a value of $150 on it, not the USD value.

 

They use UPS. Good luck with that.

Just be aware that you could face a significant amount of extra charges when it arrives to you.

UPS will charge you a brokerage fee on top of the tax, and possibly duty if it's applicable.

I've been charged the full value of the product in additional fees before. That was the last time I used UPS for international shipment.

From a quick googling, Montana apparently does not charge sales tax. Whatever you do, DO NOT choose UPS ground. You will be charged like crazy with brokerage fees, eco-fees, fuel surcharges, $10+customs charge(but no sales tax in Montana) etc.

 

UPS Worldwide Express, Saver, Expedited are all Air-mail services that include brokerage fees. Shipping costs a bit more, but you will receive your item next business day and you only pay customs+$10, if applicable.

Yeah we dont have a sale tax (so nice). It looks like Linus will choose whatever is the cheapest way to ship it. I am just getting an Idea of what it could cost.
