I'm going to get the Gigabyte aorus B450 pro wifi motherboard with Amd ryzen 5 3600. Would the motherboard need a bios update or not?

If it has “Ryzen 3000 Desktop Ready” on the box you’re good. If not, you’ll likely need an update to work with your Ryzen 3000 series.

Unless your board has bios flashback you can't but amd has a cpu you can borrow to update bios.

To answer your second question, no. Which makes the first complicated; you’d need to use an older CPU (Ryzen 2000 series or older supported CPU), either by getting a loaner from AMD (there’s a program where they’ll ship you a cheap one and then you ship it right back) or you take it to somewhere like microcenter to have them update it.

Though if you’re getting a B450 board (which will likely not support the next generation of Ryzen CPUs coming out later this year, just warning you) I’d get the Tomahawk Max. It’s guaranteed to work with Ryzen 3000 series CPUs OOB (and it has BIOS flashback), it’s a bit cheaper, and it has really good VRMs (power delivery to the CPU). Compared to the Gigabyte Pro WiFi it’s really only missing WiFi/BT and ARGB Headers
