Budget (including currency): $1,600

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming & General Web Browsing

Other details Its been 15 years since I built my own system, but my son has been bugging me to build him a gaming system.  We were not planning on overclocking the system, but I want the availability just encase

  • CPU - Intel Core i7-9700K
  • CPU Cooler - Noctua NH-D15 Chromax
  • Motherboard - Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro WIFI
  • Memory - G.Skill Trident Z RBG 32 GB DDR4.  Not sure if I'm using 4 x 8 GB 3600 or 2 x 16 GB 3200.  I've heard the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro WIFI works better with all (4) slots being used
  • Storage M.2 - Leaning towards WD Black SN750 1TB or ADDLINK S70 1TB.  May splurge for the Samsung 970 EVO 1TB
  • Storage HD - Undecided, just looking for space to store files were speed is not a factor
  • Video Card - Leaning towards Giggabyte Gefore RTX 2060 Super, not sure if the Giggabyte Gefore RTX 2070 Super is worth the additional $100
  • Case - Fractal Design Meshify C White
  • Case Fans - Not sure yet, but looking for quite RBG
  • PSU - Corsair RM750x

Any advise or changes you could recommend it would be greatly appreciated.

Buying a 9700K is the worst thing you can do for yourself when the 3700X already beats in in 90% of cases and the upcoming 4700X is shaping up to annihilate even the 10700K

What res + refresh rate?

For gaming, Id drop the cpu down and get a faster gpu.

32gb of ram is overkill for most all games these days.

He was looking at a monitor that 2560 x 1440 at 144Hz.  Drop the RAM to 2 x 8?

Not sure if you wanted the monitor included in the budget or not, but added a 1440p Freesync.

No Ryzen 4000 support on B450, but not really a huge deal. You would still have the 3900X and 3950X.
