Im pretty sure its linux + kvm + some custom stuff, but depends on the instance. And there is a lot of custom code and hardware.

 

Look up their talks, they go into a good amount of detail about how they set it up.

CentOS/RHEL like systems. Which one spesificly i don't know. But my guess would be that you wont be able to get the exact system AWS uses. Because of customizations
