I have an Asus Rog Maximus x formula motherboard with a i7-8700k with the most recent bios and drivers and I’ve tried over clocking my cpu in bios multiple times following videos. (I’ve over clocked cpus before so I know the procedures involved with over clocking cpus) I’m trying to over clock to 4.7ghz and it says so on the bios but when I launch to windows it’s still at stock clock speed. I’ve read up on articles all day about people having the same problems with no fixes what so ever. Wondering if anybody has a fix for this here or maybe I’m missing a setting in my bios settings that applies to Asus motherboards. I’ve changed the clock speed the voltage all that good stuff and it refuses to clock past the factory clock speed under load. I payed for a a mother board that can be over clocked yet refuses to do so. Please help.

What are your turbo power limits set to in the BIOS? If these are set too low, when your CPU is loaded, it will not be able to reach full speed. Run a program like HWiNFO and it will report any reasons for throttling.

What are your CPU Core Ratios set to? Is Asus MultCore Enhancement enabled? Run a CPU-Z report and attach this information to your next post. It should show if your CPU is properly setup.

Use the in-BIOS screen capture option if you can.

It looks like you are adjusting the wrong thing.

At stock the CPU boosts up to 4.7 GHz, and in your BIOS, it has been changed to 5.0 GHz.

During AVX operations, it is running at 4.7 GHz.

Also, are you *IN* LN2 Mode??

Disable LN2 mode if you are...

What is your current Ai Overclock Tuner setting?

[Auto] or [XMP] ?

You change the CPU Core Ratio(s), and you can Sync All Cores, or change the multiplier on a per-core basis.

You can enter the CPU multiplier ratio directly (e.g. input 47 with your number pad).

Extreme Tweaker >> CPU Core Ratio

What is your CPU C-Sate setting? [Auto] ?

Is there a reason why DRAM voltage is 1.488V (1.50V) ??

When it should be 1.20V ... or 1.35V ?
