Greetings everyone. First time posting here.

Currently have a desktop with specs as follows :

Intel Core I5-4570

Asus B85M-G

8GB DDR3-1600

Asus Expedition GTX 1050Ti (EX-GTX1050TI-4G)

1TB WD Blue

With the release of the new Ryzen 3 3300X around the corner, is it the perfect time to change to the new AMD processor and platform? Or I just hold on the Intel Processor, and upgrade other things?

I'm using the PC only for 1080p gaming, not thinking about pushing to 1440p, or more than 60Hz gaming experience.

Thank you.

If you can wait, wait for a while. Depending on your location (U.S. has some serious problems atm), supply chains are still pretty destroyed so your prices are going to be pretty high. If you would need to buy one single thing to make your machine feel way faster, get a 500gb SSD and migrate your OS to it. Moving from an HDD to an NVME SSD changed me getting up to get some food while I waited for my computer to boot up to the loading wheel disappearing, it loaded so fast. This translated to performance like launching applications and the such. The added benefit of waiting would be that you could purchase a B550 motherboard to pair with your CPU, to avoid any issues with upgrading to Zen 3. Also, RTX 4000 series should be appearing sometime this fall, along with Big Navi which should drive prices down even further. There are plenty of people here that would be glad to help you with a parts list, but if I were you I would wait for the reasons above. Lastly, depending on your budget you really should get a 144hz monitor if you play competitive games.

Thanks for the heads up. Apparently the situation is the same here (Malaysia). With the government enforced lockdown, the supply chain of everything is affected by it. But, we are slowly opening back our country, and some of the stuff has now reduced in price compared to the early March. Hopefully the new B550 mobo and Ryzen 3300X come soon enough.
