Does Borderlands 3 make a good benchmark test?

I'm not a familiar with the game fully, but any game that is predictable (so doesn't differ much from one test to another) and fully utilizes at least one part of your PC (like fully uses your GPU), makes for a good test.

But that last point, fully utilizes a single part, does mean not every game makes for a good CPU, or GPU test. Or whether it's good for one or the other depends on your graphics config.

I use a website called can you run it and it reads what your current hardware is and whats its capable of and it says i can run Borderlands 3 perfectly fine but I have to play on low settings for some reason. So i was just wondering if this game made a good test bench.

  1. These sites are often inaccurate as they only use specs given by developer compared to specs they read from your PC.
  2. On paper you have better GPU, but worse CPU.
  3. What game is this and what are you settings/resolution?
  4. What issues you are having? "Lag" is networking term and means you are having high ping and related issues when playing online games. It doesn't tell anything about what would be the issue.

As for benchmark question. The point of benchmark is that you can repeat same test run over and over again to compare results. This is why there are purpose made software which use premade runs. This is also why some games have premade run as benchmarking. You can make your own runs, but unless you give out detailed explanation on how to recreate runs, the results will only be suitable for your own use.
