[HELP] Ryzen 5 1600 with b450m S2H 3000Mhz or 3200Mhz?

Go to solution Solved by boggy77,

yes. most important is to have 2 sticks of ram, so they run dual channel. the difference between 3000 and 3200 isn't much, and ryzen 1000 series struggles anyway to run it at 3200, so if 3000 is cheaper, go for that. make sure the timings are decent as well. C15 or C16, not C19.

Hello everyone!

My PC specs:

- Ryzen 5 1600
- 1x8Gb Team Group DDR4 8GB 2666MHz CL19 1.2V
- NITRO+ RX 580 4G G5
- Gigabyte B450M S2H (rev 1.0)

I was wondering if it would be possible for me to upgrade to more memory and it being faster. Is it possible? If yes is there any suggestions?

What is C15 , C16 etc. And what does it do?

So yeah, there are a few options to upgrade:

-Ryzen 5 1600 is a fine CPU (maybe a bit old), you could upgrade it, but shouldnt be a huge difference

-2x8 GB RAM-Sticks (at least 3200MHZ, because thats just faster)

-RX5600 or RTX2060 (maybe Super if you can afford it), but you should have at least a 450-550W PSU

-Gigabyte B450M is a decent mainboard, you dont need to upgrade it

2666MHz CL19

your current ram is CL19. that is the access time in ns. the larger the number the slower the access time and the higher the latency.

you want lower access times, so try to get 3000CL15 or 3200CL16. 3000CL16 works as well.
