The 3600 non x, because the 3600x is just a 3600 with a factory overclock so don't get it, is better in every way other than some heavy multi threaded applications and even then it only loses by 10 or so percent.

Ok but what about the 2700x, I was very much considering it because a of a few things. The higher core count might come in handy when video edeting, and on top of that the 2700x being 2nd gen work's on a much wider variety of boards, for a compatable ITX motherboard for the 3600 & 3600x I will be paying another $100-150. This is why I wanted to know whether or not it is a worthy upgrade or whether it is more hassel then the performance benefits dictate.

what motherboard are you looking at? those that fit a 2700x should fix a 3600 with a bios update...for those in retail now should have updated bios already...just check with the seller...

3600 is better is only about 10% weaker in editing...but way better in gaming...

This board, seemed like a decent middle of the range ITX board with support of M.2 NVME, unless you can suggest a better ITX formfactor Motherboard within say a $50 price point?

Ok to put it simply they perform about the same but the 2700x will have the extra cores but the 3600 will get you a way better cache layout and a better memory controller and an improved ipc count so you decide

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

Well in Theory if I did go for the 3600 as people seem to have suggested, could you recomend a good ITX formfactor motherboard within reasonable price to the one linked ?

If you really need a a computer right now I would buy this https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/h7WBD3/msi-b450m-mortar-max-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-b450m-mortar-max mobo but I would wait for b550 and ryzen 4000.

That is M-ATX though, I need a M-ITX board for my case. I mean it seems like a nice motherboard, but it simply will not fit within the form factor of my case.

https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1137619-motherboard-tier-list-v2-currently-amd-only/ get at least tier c/b for future upgrade-ability.

You'll have a better build if you wait ;)

I mean it seems abit harsh to hold out, as we have to real confirmation of when B550 is going to drop. Just did my research and the amount of times it has been pushed back has even had premade manifacturers request midway board. At this point one has to wonder is it worth ponying up the extra money for an X570 board ?

X570 will be good if you want 3600 but if you decide to go with the 2700x,  b450 will do

But it's up to you to wager what you deem better

I must admit though if I go with the Ryzen 5 3600 it does feel super odd buying an X570 motherboard as it will cost more then the chip I plan to put into it lmao

It says after the board name, if its not atx, if its itx or matx  the reason you won't find many boards that are itx is because it's a dying form factor. The reason for this is itx boards have less features, cost more to make than atx boards, if you want to add anything you can't because their is no pcie x1/x4 slots, and the pc themselves are loud since you need a low profile cooler whose fan has to spin at higher rpm which makes it louder.

I mean I would disagree, miniature gaming rig's are a real market. There is even case manefacturer's dedicated to creating the smallest cases that squeeze in the most functionality, it's uber gratifying to make a PC that's the size of a console yet infinatly more powerful.
