What's your opinion about Ducky Shine 3?

CertonC

Hey guys,

I just wanna know what's your opinion about Ducky Shine 3 DK9008 with Brown Switches.

It will be mostly used for gaming, typing as well but not as much I guess..

So what's your opinion about this keyboard and the switches of course?

I want one so badly. The Ducky Shine II is an absolute dream to type on. So I imagine the Ducky Shine III will be even better, specially since they offer the more rigid aluminum bases. And then the new lighting configuration....

Man. I want to upgrade now. Either Shine III or the new Corsair.

My little brother has one. It's great, has lighting options galore and such.

But the build quality really isn't much better than my quickfire tk that cost 50 euros less.

Brown switches are awesome. I have the Logitech G710+ with browns, and it's a dream to type on.

Cherry MX Browns are a good introductory switch to start with. Switch preference is a subjective matter however, and you may end up venturing into other varieties or custom switches.

Its a good board, but very overrated. You pay extra for some utterly useless lighting effects.

The thing that impressed me most about the Shine 3 is how sturdy it feels.

Managed to convince my friend to snag me one while he was in Taiwan. Super freaking sturdy thing. The lighting modes get really old, really fast, at least for me--to the point of annoyance on days when I'm a bit grumpier than usual. I usually just keep the lights off, but on reactive mode.

That said, I'd take a good looooooong look at the competition, especially with regards to pricing in your area. Some of the western companies are stepping up their game with competitive prices. And get whatever switches you bloody well want. Go for whatever sounds awesome to you, and it's never a wrong choice.

I want it to have my children.

lol but really, it is as good as a mechanical keyboard gets right now. The Corsair RGB mechanical keyboard will more than likely take over it's top spot whenever that releases, however seeing as to it isn't available ducky is at the top.

Get red switches they are best for gaming, but any mechanical keyboard in general is great for gaming

Disagree with the first part, agree with the rest. Red isn't best for gaming, that's some marketing crap first started when mechanical keyboards started to gain popularity. There is no 'best' switch, rather, what's 'best' depends solely on the preference of the user....for me, 'best' for gaming are my Topre keyboards, followed by Cherry Clear, Green, White and Black in no particular order.

Meh, I ended up turning off the LEDs on my YOTS. But then again, I prefer to have a clean look without flashy LED lights.

If I did have one I would probably run all off at night just to stop it being distracting. LEDs are not a deal breaker for me. For me the selling point of ducky board is that from a glance they look professional and minimalistic compared to say a k70 and the build quality is solid. They also do not have much of a markup based on the switch type which is nice. All shine 3s cost the same here in Australia

After being spoiled by korean customs and their potential customization, all the regular "stock" keyboards seem boring for me. :( I wish there were more classy aluminum keyboards.

Also if you don't want the LEDs there is the ducky zero which here is $50 cheaper and has less obnoxious branding compared to say a cm Storm board

something like a GON is pretty baller and I do want one but I think that even if someone like ducky decides to mass produced a board like that it would still be north of $300 which is almost double what a shine 3 costs

I have one with white LEDs and blue switches. I haven't tried the brown, but I understand that they are similar to blue, but without the click. I think you will enjoy whichever switch you pick just because they are so much better than membranes, so I wouldn't take the decision too seriously.

I got browns for my first keyboard and everyone has tried them immediately falls in love with the tactile response. I really recommend them as I feel they provide the most satisfying typing experience without the extra click of blues. They're perfect for typing and gaming.

Regarding the Ducky Shine 3, I always wanted one but couldn't get one until NCIX started delivering worldwide last week. Finally ordered one today.
